Activity 26: Toddler Cleaning

11 Oct

Cleaning bucket intro pic

Half way there…now to watermark my photos so I can do my next lot of posts!

Now toddlers are so interested in copying adults and I know Princess Peanut was no exception. She was fascinated with “mess” and wanted to “dust” everything for months. She is always asking for a “cloth” too. So I had the idea to make a little cleaning set for her. Granted I could have just bought her a toy set, but this is more authentic.

And, just in case you were wondering….yes I would make a more “boy” version (i.e. colours and minus the pink) if I had a son 😉

The original Pin was from Pink and Green Mama. At the time when I had the idea there wasn’t a lot of Pins on the subject. I’ve since found this one too from Spoonful.

I thought for ease of transportation (and hopefully keeping tantrums to a minimum) I decided to opt for a bucket, rather than a caddy where items could fall out more easily. We keep the lid off most of the time, but Princess Peanut is of course (like any other toddler) fascinated with lids coming on and off.

Here is the finished product for Princess Peanut. Complete with label and decoration, she has carried this little bucket around everywhere.

A little bit of prettiness 🙂

Princess Peanut and I went shopping at the $2 shop and found a cheap glove duster and set of cloths just like Mumma’s. I grabbed her a Chux out of the cupboard like we clean our surfaces with.

I found this little set at Target, the small size is great. Princess Peanut loves to grab my big broom and dustpan, so i thought this little set was perfect….well…Princess Peanut wasn’t as excited about it as I thought she might have been. Hopefully the idea grows on her.

Here is everything in the bucket, it fits in…just!

Oh Teacher Mumma I LOVE to “dust dust dust”.

Ambidextrous? It does run in the family…lol. Maybe I should start doing the cleaning this way, might be more efficient!

Adaptions: I wouldn’t mind making that sock bunny from Pink and Green Mama! How cute!

Over time we might add to it, or change it to a caddy, but for now and Princess Peanut’s needs, it’s perfect!!
