2 of 52 Yogurt painting

1 Feb

So the other day I linked you to this activity. It looked straight-forward, it only had 2 ingredients, and while it was messy it didn’t look like it was going to get out of hand. And guess what! It didn’t. Princess Peanut and SweetPea had a wonderful time on Wednesday exploring and “painting”.

So here are those 2 easy ingredients:

To my surprise – Princess Peanut got stuck straight in! Being a primary school teacher I was cautious of mess, so each of the girls got a couple of spoonfuls on their tray each time #meanmumma

SweetPea had a taste!

And Princess Peanut thought she also better find out how it tasted.

After a taste Princess Peanut got stuck straight in with both hands. She also ran her finger tips through the yogurt. I was pretty impressed with how the girls were exploring as we didn’t model anything for them today!

Yum Yum!

At the end, SweetPea’s mummy suggested we take some prints of the girls work. So easy – we laid the paper over the girls tray to take a print and carefully lifted it back (I’ll have to post a photo of the finished product later!)

Princess Peanut had great fun doing this activity (and had a really good sleep afterwards!).

Summary/ Verdict: This activity was so easy to prepare and complete! A real winner. A little messy, but most of it was contained and the girls just need a quick face and hand wipe and a fresh change of clothes.

Extension/ Adaptions for next time: I’m sure as Princess Peanut gets older we will go back to this activity (or similar). So of course the “paint” can go directly on paper, use with paintbrushes, stamps, other house hold items to make printings. And like Jamie from Hands on: as we grow we could decorate paper bags, wrapping paper, cards (will be great later in the year with Father’s Day, Christmas, family birthdays!).

Yay! 2 activities down, 50 to go! 😉
